Witness

Witness is a hand-forged sculptural object that explores presence, proportion, and material through the restrained combination of steel and copper. A singular vertical form anchors the composition, its measured geometry balanced by forged copper elements that introduce warmth, texture, and subtle contrast.

Each surface retains the evidence of its making. Hammer marks, forged transitions, and natural variations in the metal reveal the process behind the work, allowing the character of the material to remain visible rather than concealed. The dialogue between darkened steel and burnished copper creates depth, while the changing qualities of light continually reshape the object’s visual presence.

The composition is intentionally understated, relying on disciplined form, balanced proportions, and the relationship between mass and negative space. As the viewer moves around the piece, shifting reflections and shadows reveal new spatial qualities, encouraging a sustained engagement with the object.

Finished with a hand-applied hot wax patina, Witness is conceived as a collectible sculptural object for contemporary interiors.
